Role Model is an initiative created to nurture character and inspire leadership among children and young people. It is about making values lived experiences rather than lessons in a textbook. Designed as a Co-curricular Program for School students from the 8th to 10th standards, Role Model is all about awakening our future generations while understanding the new India we live in.
More than 75 years after Independence, India has travelled an extraordinary distance.
From a young nation with limited resources, we have emerged as the world’s largest democracy and one of the world’s fastest-evolving nations. Literacy has risen dramatically. The Green Revolution helped make India self-sufficient in food. Life expectancy has more than doubled. We eradicated polio, built a world-class space programme, reached the Moon and Mars, and transformed the lives of millions through digital technologies such as Aadhaar, mobile connectivity and UPI. Our economy has grown into one of the world’s largest. Indian talent is making its mark in technology, medicine, business, science, sports and global leadership. Today, Indians lead some of the world’s biggest corporations and contribute to progress across the globe. And with a young population, a median age of around 29 years and nearly 68% of our people in the working-age group, India stands at the threshold of an extraordinary opportunity.
We have built the platform for a great future.
But a nation’s progress is not measured only by its economy, technology or achievements. It is also measured by the character of its people. In our desire to embrace a rapidly changing world, we have also absorbed many influences from outside our traditional social and cultural framework. Openness to the world is a strength. But in that process, some of the values that have shaped Indian society for generations can gradually lose their place in everyday life.
These are not merely traditional ideals. They are human values. And they are the foundation of character. Our children will inherit everything we build today. They will live in a world that is more connected, competitive and complex than ever before. We can give them knowledge. We can give them technology. We can give them opportunities. But we must also give them character. Because academic excellence without integrity is incomplete. Success without empathy is empty. Leadership without responsibility can become power without purpose.
This is where Role Model School Program comes in.
Through participation, challenges, creativity, interaction and real-world experiences, Role Model encourages children to discover what it means to be responsible, compassionate, courageous and principled. It gives them an opportunity to look beyond marks, medals and achievements — and ask themselves:
Because every child has the potential to influence others. Every child can lead. And every child can become a Role Model. A young life becomes a journey from values to character, from character to leadership and from leadership to a better India.
We are not trying to recreate the past. We are preparing our children to shape the future — with the best of India within them and the confidence to embrace the world.
